In 1999 HRH Prince Khalid Al-Faisal bin Abdul Aziz Al-Saud formally launched Painting & Patronage as a private royal initiative. Today it is considered to be one of the most prominent cultural and educational exchange initiatives between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the international community.
In 2015 the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdul Aziz Al-Saud granted his High Patronage over Painting & Patronage. This position was previously held between 2007 and 2015 by the late Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdul Aziz Al-Saud of Saudi Arabia/
The President of Painting & Patronage is HRH Prince Khalid Al-Faisal bin Abdul Aziz Al-Saud who is supported by a Vice President, Chairman, Board of Directors and several Special Advisers.
