Painting & Patronage in partnership with The Prince’s School of Traditional Arts are delighted to announce their participation at the Start Garden Party.
Start is HRH The Prince of Wales’s new initiative to help people across the UK lead more sustainable lives and show them how they can all ‘start’ living life differently.
From 8 to 19 September 2010, the gardens of HRH The Prince of Wales’s London residence, Clarence House, together with neighbouring Lancaster House and Marlborough House will be opened for a festival to promote sustainable living. Several thousand of visitors are expected each day.
In partnership with the Start Garden Party, Painting & Patronage and The Prince’s School of Traditional Arts will exhibit artworks; conduct lectures at the various forums and provide a series of workshops for the people attending the event. The aim is to teach people both to understand and to create art, which cross cultural boundaries facilitate a greater understanding of nature and helps people to live more harmonious lives.
Drop-in workshops will welcome participants of different ages and backgrounds to join practical art classes.
The themes of the workshops will include:
- How to interpret the order within nature through geometric design.
- Observing and drawing flowers with biomorphic design.
- Making paints from flowers’ natural sources.
The principles underlying all of these design methods and art techniques are common to many traditions. By showing participants their shared artistic heritage and relationship to the natural world we aim to forge links between communities and help people better understand harmony within nature.
A series of talks, exploring the same themes will accompany the workshops throughout the festival.
